State Matriculation – Professional Operation and Development

The extensive and comprehensive project of state matriculation exams is provided by the state-funded organization Center for the Assessment of Education Results, a state-funded organization (hereinafter referred to as “Cermat”). For the preparation and implementation of the common part of the matriculation examinations, entrance examinations and other evaluation projects, Cermat has an extensive ICT infrastructure, but at the same time, it needs sufficient professional capacity for its operation and development, which it secures through tenders with private companies.

The principle of the examinations organized by Cermat is the distribution of classified examination assignment in paper (analogue) form containing both closed and open question types. The answers completed by the pupils in the paper record sheets are subsequently digitized and evaluated using artificial intelligence (use of neural networks) fully automatically or partially together with human evaluators.

The company PragoData a.s. was the supplier of comprehensive services for the management and development of the infrastructure of the matriculation examination information system (ISMZ) in the years 2018 to 2023. During the implementation of the state matriculation exam, PragoData a.s. also participated in the large-scale modernization of the data center hardware infrastructure and the installation of 1,400 data digitization terminals (DDT) deployed in secondary schools throughout the country. The hardware renewal also included a software upgrade in the digitization of record sheets of sencondary school graduates, secondary school applicants and a number of supporting applications participating in management of the entire evaluation process.

The operation of the complete infrastructure was provided by PragoData a.s. for a period of 5 years flawlessly and always in accordance with the strict conditions agreed in the Service-level agreement (SLA). This project has thus become an exemplary model for system integration in state administration.
